GarageOS is software for motor garages in India. Garages use it to take bookings, record work on vehicles, prepare estimates and issue bills. Their customers use it to approve work and see what was done to their car.

This policy explains what the app records, why, and who else sees it. It is written to be read rather than to be defensible.

What we record

If you are a garage's customer

Your mobile number	It is how you sign in. There is no password.
Your name	So the garage knows whose car it is.
Your vehicle — registration, make, model, insurance and PUC expiry dates	To identify the car and to remind you before those documents expire.
Photographs of your vehicle	Taken by the garage when the car arrives, during inspection, and when work is finished. They are the record of the car's condition and what was done to it.
Your service history — job cards, estimates, invoices, payments	The work the garage did and what it cost.
Your language preference	So messages reach you in English or Gujarati.

If you work at a garage

Your name, mobile number and your role — owner, service manager, sales or mechanic. The role decides which screens you can open.

From the device

A notification token, so the app can tell you when a car is ready or an estimate needs approving. It identifies the installation, not you, and it is deleted when you sign out.
Photographs you choose to add — either taken with the camera or picked from your phone's gallery. When you pick from the gallery, the app receives only the picture you selected; it cannot read the rest of your library, and it never looks at either source on its own.

The app does not collect location, contacts, call logs, messages, or any advertising identifier. There is no advertising in GarageOS and nothing here is sold.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of services to run the product. Each sees only what it needs to do its job.

Your data belongs to the garage you are a customer of. One garage can never see another garage's customers, vehicles or invoices — that separation is enforced by the system itself, not by anybody remembering.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Photographs

Photographs of a vehicle are evidence of its condition, so they are treated carefully. They are stored privately, never listed publicly, and are reachable only through a link that is signed and expires. The application has no ability to delete a stored photograph at all — deliberately, so a record of a car's condition cannot be quietly removed after a dispute.

Messages we send you

A garage may send you a booking confirmation, an estimate to approve, a notice that your car is ready, a bill, or a reminder that your insurance or PUC is close to expiring. These arrive as an app notification, an SMS or a WhatsApp message.

They are about work you asked for or documents that are expiring. They are not marketing. To stop receiving them, tell your garage, or uninstall the app for notifications.

How long it is kept

A garage's records — job cards, invoices, vehicle history — are kept while that garage uses GarageOS, because they are its business records and Indian tax rules require invoices to be retained.

Backups are taken nightly and kept for a limited period so the system can be restored after a failure. A deletion request is honoured in the live system promptly; the backups age out on their own schedule.

Your choices

See what is held about you. Sign in and open your profile and vehicle history, or ask your garage.
Correct it. Your name, language and vehicle details can be edited in the app; your garage can correct the rest.
Have it deleted. The steps, and the full list of what is removed and what has to be kept, are on Delete your account. Some records — an issued invoice, for example — must be retained to meet tax obligations, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.
Stop notifications. Turn them off in your phone's settings, or sign out.

Children

GarageOS is a tool for a business. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

Sign-in is by a one-time code, so there is no password to leak. Access is scoped by role, and a garage's data is separated from every other garage's at the database level.

During the pilot. While GarageOS is being trialled, some deployments run without a certificate and with a fixed sign-in code so the team can test. Those builds are not distributed publicly and are not used with real customers' data.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. A change that materially affects you will be announced in the app.
